Early 1990s. After giving birth at a local hospital, Ana is faced with a bureaucratic problem. Her file is not in the system, which means she has no social security or a listed permanent address. Legally, Ana doesn’t exist, even though she has lived in Slovenia all her life. Therefore, her child is an orphan. And orphans are put up for adoption.
