The Brave Adventures of a Little Shoemaker scores the second best Croatian opening since 1990
With 21,693 viewers in the first weekend, The Brave Adventures of a Little Shoemaker overcame the spectacle Thor: The Dark World and the comedy Last Vegas, scoring the second best Croatian film opening since the independence.
In its first weekend of screening (7-10 November) The Brave Adventures of a Little Shoemaker was seen by 21,693 viewers. This made The Little Shoemaker's opening record-breaking for a Croatian family film since the independence, and the second best opening after The Priest’s Children, which scored over 33 thousand viewers in the first four days. In the Croatian context, both cases could be labelled as blockbusters. With the upcoming holiday season and the fact that family and animated films usually achieve good box-office results, The Brave Adventures of a Little Shoemaker should exceed the rates of Koko and the Ghosts (79,384) and The Mysterious Boy (around 70,000) and could very likely get close to its previous animated version, Lapitch the Little Shoemaker (1997), which attracted almost 220,000 viewers.
The film was adapted and directed by Silvije Petranović. It stars Mile Biljanović, Ena Lulić and Goran Navojec, the cinematographer was Mirko Pivčević, editor Andrija Zafranović, set designer Ivo Hušnjak, and costume designer Ante Tonči Vladislavić. The producers are Silvije Petranović and Maydi Mervar Petranović from Maydi Film production company. The Brave Adventures of a Little Shoemaker were co-funded by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre and are distributed by Blitz film & video distribution.
