Croatian films at festivals in Luxembourg, Reykjavik, Vancouver…

Croatian feature and short films will be screening at a series of international festivals during the months of October and November. The majority of them, 11, will be screening at CinEast – Central and Eastern European Film Festival in Luxembourg, as well as festivals in Reykjavik, Vancouver and Tokyo.

The CinEast – Central and Eastern European Film Festival will feature, in numerous categories, seven feature films: Quit Staring at My Plate by Hana Jušić, On the Other Side by Zrinko Ogresta, Shooting Stars by Ivan-Goran Vitez, Goran by Nevio Marasović, The High Sun by Dalibor Matanić, the documentary-feature Croatian minority co-production Houston, We Have a Problem! by Žiga Virc, and the Croatian minority co-production A Good Wife by Mirjana Karanović

The 9th CinEast, taking place in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg from October 9th to 23rd, will also screen the short films Dota by Petra Zlonoga, The Beast by Miroslav Sikavica, Belladonna by Dubravka Turić, and the animated film Travelling Country by Ivan Bogdanov and Vessela Dantcheva. This year the CinEast – Central and Eastern European Film Festival will screen more than 60 feature and 40 short films from 18 Central and Eastern European countries. Hana Jušić’s debut feature film, Quit Staring at My Plate, which recently won the FEDEORA award for Best European Film in the Venice Days programme of the 73rd Venice International Film Festival, will also be screening at international film festivals in Reykjavik, Vancouver and Tokyo. Quit Staring at My Plate is a film about growing up and family relations. It is a Croatian-Danish co-production written and directed by Hana Jušić. The film stars Mia Petričević, Arijana Čulina, Zlatko Burić and Nikša Butijer, the producer is Ankica Jurić Tilić of Kinorama, and the co-producer is Beofilm (Denmark) and HRT (Croatian Radio Television). 

Furthermore, the Vancouver International Film Festival will also screen two Croatian minority co-productions: Sieranevada, directed by Cristi Puiu, and A Good Wife by Mirjana Karanović
