César Award: The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent wins ‘French Oscar’ nomination!
The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent, directed by Nebojša Slijepčević and produced by Katarina Prpić and Danijel Pek (Antitalent), wins a nomination for the César Award of the French Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques in the category of Best Short Film. The film is made in minority co-production with French company Les Films Norfolk, with co-producer Noëlle Lévénez.
In addition to The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent, the shortlist, that is, the pre-nomination selection, also included Lea Vidaković’s animated short The Family Portrait (production Adriatic Animation).

The César Awards are France’s equivalent to the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Academy Awards, and are awarded by the French Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques. The awards ceremony will take place in Paris, on 28th February, while the ceremony will be hosted by French actress and two-time César Award laureate, Catherine Deneuve.
Nebojša Slijepčević short drama is the first film since Croatia’s independence to be nominated for an Oscar, and the first Croatian title to win the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. The film is also the winner of the European Film Award for Best Short Film.
To date, The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent has screened at more than 80 festivals around the world, including the Toronto Film Festival, Manhattan Short, PÖFF Shorts in Tallinn, Stockholm Film Festival, Festival du Nouveau Cinéma and many others. In addition to the amazing reception from world film critics, it has also won numerous awards at numerous of the above festivals, such as the Grand Prix at the Melbourne International Film Festival, the Audience Award at the Kurzfilmtage Winterthur International Festival, the Best Film Award at the Euro-Balkan Film Festival in Rome, Best Actor (Goran Bogdan) at the Sulmona Film Festival (SIFF), Best Cinematography (Gregor Božič) at the Bucharest Film Short Film Festival and many others.
