Animated film A Demonstration of Brilliance in Four Acts wins in Krakow and Montreal

The short animated film A Demonstration of Brilliance in Four Acts, directed by Lucija Mrzljak and Morten Tšinakov and produced by Adriatic Animation (Zagreb) and Eesti Joonisfilm (Tallinn, Estonia), won the Grand Prix in the international animated film category at the IFF Etiuda & Anima. Furthermore, the film also won at the international animation festival in Montreal.

A Demonstration of Brilliance in Four Acts won the Grand Prix for best international animated film (Anima Competition) at the 25th International Film Festival Etiuda & Anima. Dea Jagić’s short animated film Past is Growing, produced by Vinko Brešan (Zagreb Film), competed in the same category.

The International Film Festival Etiuda & Anima is the oldest film festival in Poland. Each year it gathers animators from across the globe, and along with numerous screenings, the festival also organizes a series of other events in Krakow for both professionals and visitors. A Demonstration of Brilliance in Four Acts by Lucija Mržljak and Morten Tšinakov also won at the Montreal Animated Film Summit (Sommets du cinéma d’animation). The film was awarded special jury mention in the international competition. Also screening in Montreal were Veljko Popović’s Cyclists, a Croatian-French production (Croatian producers – Veljko and Milivoj Popović, Lemonade 3D), and Anja Kofmel’s Chris the Swiss, a Swiss-Croatian-German-Finnish co-production (Croatian co-producer – Siniša Juričić, Nukleus Film). A Demonstration of Brilliance in Four Acts is the first film by the duo Lucija Mrzljak and Morten Tšinakov after graduating from the animation school in Tallinn, Estonia, and is also the first international collaboration between Croatia’s Adriatic Animation and Estonia’s Eesti Joonisfilm (which includes renowned animator Priit Pärn). The film was financed by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.
