Croatian Projects and Filmmakers at 67th Festival dei Popoli 

In collaboration with the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Croatian projects to be presented in the Country in Focus programme (Croatia and Slovenia) within the industry section Doc at Work, taking place from 5 to 7 November as part of the Festival dei Popoli – International Documentary Film Festival in Florence. In addition, one minority co-production to screen in the main programme, while two further Croatian film professionals will participate in festival events and programmes.

30th Black Nights Film Festival Opens in Tallinn: Croatian Film and Minority Co-productions Across Different Sections

One Croatian title and six minority co-productions have been selected to screen in competitions at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, in the PÖFF Shorts and Just Film sub-festivals. One of the largest festivals in Northern Europe, Black Nights has held a FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Associations) accreditation for its international competition programme since 2014, placing it alongside the Berlinale, Cannes, Venice, San Sebastián, Karlovy Vary and others.

Croatian Titles at 48th Cinemed: The Feast of the Wolf and To Hold a Mountain in Competition

Jadran Boban’s documentary The Feast of the Wolf, produced by the Zagreb-based company Hulahop, will screen in the official documentary feature competition at the 48th Cinemed – Montpellier International Mediterranean Film Festival. Also screening in competition is the minority co-production To Hold a Mountain by Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić (Kinematograf). Other festival sections include a further Croatian short film and two minority short-film co-productions.

83rd Venice International Film Festival: World Premieres of Until the Day Ends, Balcanica, and Eyes of Shame in Competition Programmes

This year’s 83rd Venice International Film Festival opens on Wednesday, 2 September. Three films co-produced by Croatian companies will have their world premieres across three different programmes. The feature-length fiction film Until the Day Ends by Jelena Maksimović (co-production: Dinaridi Film) has been selected for the Horizons (Orizzonti) programme, while the feature film Balcanica by Nicola Sorcinelli (co-production: Antitalent) will be presented as part of the parallel programme Venice Days (Giornate degli Autori). In addition, the VR animated film Eyes of Shame by Tomas Tamosaitis, co-produced by Minya Film and Animation, has been selected for the Venice Immersive programme.
