27th LIFFe festival in Ljubljana to screen seven Croatian films

The 27th LIFFe Festival, taking place November 9 th to 20 th in Ljubljana, will screen Quit Staring at My Plate, On the Other Side, Sieranevada, A Good Wife, Belladonna, Nighthawk and My World is Upside Down.

The ‘Perspectives’ competition will screen two feature films, Quit Staring at My Plate by Hana Jušić, and the Croatian minority co-production A Good Wife by Mirjana Karanović. Over the coming weeks, Hana Jušić’s debut film will be screening in competitions at international festivals in Leeds, Stockholm, Bratislava, Kolkata, L’Aquila, as well as Cinedays in Skopje. The film will premiere in Croatia at the 14th Zagreb Film Festival.

On the Other Side by Zrinko Ogresta will screen in the non-competition programme ‘Panorama’. The short film competition ‘Europe in Short’ will screen two Croatian productions: Dubravka Turić’s film Belladonna, as well as the animated minority co-production Nighthawk by Špela Čadež. This year’s ‘Focus’ programme is screening recent Romanian cinematography, and included in the five films featured this year is the Croatian minority co-production Sieranevada directed by Cristi Puiu.

The ‘Avantpremieres’ programme will screen the most impressive films heading into cinema distribution in Slovenia, and included is the Croatian minority co-production My World is Upside Down, a feature documentary by Petra Seliškar.
