Ivica Malčić is a contemporary Croatian painter born in 1964 in Zagreb. His paintings are based on urban life and urban legends. Making this film about Malčić the filmmaker wanted to explain the artist’s work to a wider audience, and explore what is now left of the influential atmosphere of the 1980s, when depicting urban life was a matter of honour for the painter and for an entire generation of Croatian artists.

Tomislav Jagec (1968) obtained his degree in film and television directing from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. His radio drama-documentary drama Four Men in the Dark, made in collaboration with Darko Rundek and Anka Savić, the Ake Blomstrom Prize at the Prix Futura Festival (Prix Europa) in Berlin. He has also written and directed a number of documentaries and one medium-length feature film.
