Croatian Titles at 48th Cinemed: The Feast of the Wolf and To Hold a Mountain in Competition

Jadran Boban’s documentary The Feast of the Wolf, produced by the Zagreb-based company Hulahop, will screen in the official documentary feature competition at the 48th Cinemed – Montpellier International Mediterranean Film Festival. Also screening in competition is the minority co-production To Hold a Mountain by Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić (Kinematograf). Other festival sections include a further Croatian short film and two minority short-film co-productions.

Croatian Films at 30th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival; World Premieres of Minority Co-productions The Sweetness of Bitter Things and Of Pigeons and Dogs

One Croatian title and four minority co-productions have been selected to screen in competitions at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, in the sub-festivals PÖFF Shorts and Just Film. One of the biggest festivals in Northern Europe, Black Nights has held a FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Associations) accreditation for its international competition programme since 2014, placing it alongside the Berlinale, Cannes, Venice, San Sebastián, Karlovy Vary and others.

Croatian titles at 30th Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival

Two Croatian shorts and one minority co-production short are screening in competition programmes at this year’s Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival. In addition, two more titles are screening out of competition, while three Croatian (co-)production projects will be presented in the festival’s industry section. The festival takes place in the Czech city of Jihlava, from 23 October to 1 November.

83rd Venice International Film Festival: World Premieres of Until the Day Ends, Balcanica, and Eyes of Shame in Competition Programmes

This year’s 83rd Venice International Film Festival opens on Wednesday, 2 September. Three films co-produced by Croatian companies will have their world premieres across three different programmes. The feature-length fiction film Until the Day Ends by Jelena Maksimović (co-production: Dinaridi Film) has been selected for the Horizons (Orizzonti) programme, while the feature film Balcanica by Nicola Sorcinelli (co-production: Antitalent) will be presented as part of the parallel programme Venice Days (Giornate degli Autori). In addition, the VR animated film Eyes of Shame by Tomas Tamosaitis, co-produced by Minya Film and Animation, has been selected for the Venice Immersive programme.
