The feature-length documentary To Hold a Mountain, directed by Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić, a co-production of Serbia, Montenegro, France, Slovenia and Croatia (Kinematograf), will have its Swiss premiere in Nyon, at the 57th Visions du Réel. The feature-length documentary To Hold a Mountain, directed by Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić, premiered in February at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize for Best World Documentary. The screening in Nyon will be its Swiss premiere, while it is currently screening in Paris at the Cinema du Réel International Documentary Film Festival.
The film’s creative crew consists of screenwriters and directors Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić, director of photography Eva Kraljević, editor George Cragg, original score composer Draško Adžić, sound designer Julij Zornik, while Emil Svetlik was in charge of colour correction. The film’s producers are Biljana Tutorov, Petar Glomazić, Quentin Laurent and Rok Biček, as well as the Croatian co-producer Dijana Cetina Mlađenović (Kinematograf).
The film was made, among others, with the support of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.
The film centres on a shepherd mother and daughter who, in the remote highlands of Montenegro, the largest grazing area in the Balkans, proudly defend their nomadic herding tradition and their ancestral mountain from the threat of becoming a NATO military training ground. Bound by close bonds of love, the mother and daughter are also haunted by bitter memories.
Switzerland Meets
Switzerland Meets is the annual VdR-Industry programme that encourages forging new bonds and connections between a selected country or region with leading Swiss producers, while strengthening international cooperation and the visibility of non-fiction creativity.
This year, the focus is on producers from Central Europe, thus in cooperation with the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Croatian producers will participate in a specially created programme and industry activities.
The producers selected to participate in the programme are: Tibor Keser (Kompot) and Sabina Krešić (Rastika).
The programme includes:
- enhancing co-productions prospects between the country in focus and the Swiss audiovisual industry;
- producers’ networking opportunities with the international community (production companies, decision makers, sales agents, distributors),
- promotion of projects and professionals through official festival channels,
- participation in industry events at Switzerland’s largest documentary market.
Visions du Réel, which this year runs from 17 to 26 April, is one of the world’s leading festivals dedicated to innovative documentary filmmaking, and since 1969 showcases authors and projects that boldly explore the limits of non-fiction cinema. The festival is Oscar-qualifying, with over 130 films in the official selection, an audience of more than 50,000 viewers and more than 1,300 accredited film professionals from all over the world. In past editions, the festival has hosted filmmakers such as Claire Denis, Werner Herzog, Alice Rohrwacher, Jia Zhang-Ke, Lucrecia Martel and many others.
