The Priest's Children and Circles in pre-selection for European Film Award
The European Film Academy (EFA) has selected The Priest’s Children by Vinko Brešan and Circles by Srdan Golubović among 46 best European films in 2013, including them in the pre-selection process for the European Film Award. The 26th award ceremony takes place on 7 December in Berlin.
Produced by Interfilm, The Priest’s Children are the highest viewed Croatian film in the 21st century, whose international premiere took place at Karlovy Vary Film Festival, where it was greeted with ovations. Circles were co-produced by Serbia, Germany, France, Slovenia and Croatia (with Propeler Film as the Croatian co-producer). It premiered internationally at Sundance Film Festival, where it won a jury special mention, followed by successful screenings at Berlinale (Ecumenical Jury Prize) and Pula Film Festival (Golden Arenas for best film, director and leading actor – Leon Lučev in the minority co-production category).
The European Film Academy was established in 1988 for the purpose of promotion of European cinema and counts over 2800 members – European film artists and producers. Nominations for the European Film Award will be announced on 9 November at Seville European Film Festival, and the official award ceremony will take place 7 December 2013 in Berlin.
