Screening of Schindler's List in memory of Branko Lusting in Geneva

A screening of the film Schindler’s List to take place at the Palace of Nations, on 27th Jan at noon, in memory of the recently deceased film producer, Branko Lustig, on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The screening of Schindler’s List is organized by the United Nations Office at Geneva (United Nations Cultural Activities Geneva), the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Croatia to the UN in Geneva, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Croatia and the Croatian Audiovisual Centre. It is part of a series of events organized to mark the Croatian presidency of the Council of the European Union (more details on other events in the programme at the following link). 

The screening of Schindler’s List is held on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The film was produced by Branko Lustig, whose personal experiences as well as those of many others inform the script. Being of Jewish descent, during World War II, he was imprisoned at infamous concentration camps Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen, while most of his family members disappeared in concentration camps at different locations around Europe. The film won him an Academy Award for Best Picture, after which he went on to become one of the leading producers in Hollywood. He won his second Oscar for Gladiator, directed by Ridley Scott, with whom he collaborated on other films, such as Hannibal, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven, A Good Year and American Gangster.  

The screening of Schindler’s List will be held at the Kazakh Room (Cinema XIV) of the Palace of Nations. The event starts at noon. The screening is gratuitous and more information is available on the invitation
