Out from the Deep by Katrin Novaković Wins Award
The graduation animated film Out from the Deep by Katrin Novaković won an award at the 17th edition of the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People, taking place between 29 November and 6 December in Pyrgos, on the Peloponnese peninsula.
The film won the children’s jury award for best short animated film. In addition to presenting short and feature films, the festival has for 14 years been hosting Camera Zizanio, the European Meeting of Young People’s Audiovisual Creation.
Out from the Deep is an animated film made in 2013, the graduation stop-motion piece by the young filmmaker Novaković from the Art Academy in Split (UMAS). So far it has been screened at about 30 international festivals, mainly in children’s films competitions, and this is its first award. It is also available online, on the film’s distributer’s (Bonobostudio) website.
