Latest awards for Ministry of Love, The Constitution and animated film Hedgehog’s Home
Pave Marinković’s film Ministry of Love won the Grand Prix at the Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries, The Constitution by Rajko Grlić won the Audience Award at the WAMA Film Festival held in Olsztyn, Poland, while Eva Cvijanović’s animated film Hedgehog’s Home won Best Film in the Children’s Film category at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montréal, Canada.
Ministry of Love is a social comedy about widows of Croatian soldiers who live in extra-marital unions in order not to lose their late husbands’ pensions. The cinematographer is Simon Tanšek, the costume designer is Vedrana Rapić, the art director is Gorana Stepan, and the make-up artist is Ana Bulajić Črček. The film is a Croatian-Czech-Slovenian co-production and the Croatian producer is Stanko Babić of Telefilm. Starring in the film are Stjepan Perić, Dražen Kühn, Ecija Ojdanić, Olga Pakalović, Ksenija Marinković, Milan Štrljič, Alma Prica, as well as Bojan and Goran Navojec.
The 33rd Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries was held in Alexandria, Egypt from October 7th to 12th. Producer Stanko Babić was there to receive the Best Film Award.
Rajko Grlić’s film The Constitution returned from the WAMA Film Festival with the Audience Award. The film’s 28th award was won in the main category – International Film Co-Productions. The film features Nebojša Glogovac, Ksenija Marinković, Dejan Aćimović and Božidar Smiljanić. The Constitution is written by Ante Tomić and Rajko Grlić. Ivan Maloča produced the film. Producers include Interfilm (Zagreb), Croatian Radio Television (HRT), In Film Prague, Revolution Skopje, Sever&Sever Ljubljana and Film&Music Entertainment London.
The 4th WAMA Film Festival took place from October 10th to 14th in Olsztyn, Poland.
The Canadian-Croatian co-production (Croatian co-producer Bonobostudio), Hedgehog’s Home won Best Film in the Children’s Film category (Prix des P'tits loups) at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montréal. The animated film is based on Branko Ćopić’s fable, and is narrated in three languages: the Croatian narrator is Rade Šerbedžija, the English narrator is actor Keneth Welsh (Twin Peaks), and the French narrator is actress France Castel. The composer is Darko Rundek. The animators are Ivana Bošnjak and Thomas Johnson (Simulacra), while modelers are the above-mentioned Ivana and Thomas along with director and writer Eva Cvijanović.
The 46th Festival du Nouveau Cinéma was held in Montréal, Canada from October 4th to 15th.
