Croatian animated films at festivals in Portugal and USA
Two international animated film festivals starting on Thursday, March 3rd, Portugal’s International Animated Film Festival Monstra, as well as the GLAS Animation Festival in the United States, will screen a series of Croatian animated films in competition and special programmes.
The International Animated Film Festival Monstra, running from March 3rd to 13th in Lisbon, will screen three Croatian animated films in competition programmes, as well as a wide range of Croatian animations in seven individual programmes.
The short film competition will screen Daniel Šuljić’s Transparency and the minority co-production Life with Herman H. Rott by Chintis Lundgren, while the student competition will feature Even Monkeys Die by Anja Sušanj.
Croatia, as one of four guest nations, will be featured in seven programmes at the 15th edition of the festival: Zagreb School of Animation – Golden Classics, New Croatian Animation, Croatian Authors of Comics and Animation Movies, Daniel Šuljić, Borivoj Dovniković and Dušan Vukotić Retrospectives, and the Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts – Animated film department Retrospective.
Furthermore, other Croatian productions will be featured at Monstra including: an episode of Professor Balthazar by Zlatko Grgić, Boris Kolar and Ante Zaninović in the family programme, while the Jury Retrospective will feature I Already Know What I Hear by Darko Masnec, Here There by Alexander Stewart, and Re-Cycling Project by several authors including Croatia’s Petra Zlonoga.
Four Croatian films at GLAS Animation Festival
The animated film festival GLAS is a new American festival running from March 3rd to 6th in Berkeley, California. In its inaugural year it will screen 65 films in various competition programmes. Among them are Croatian films Here There by Alexander Stewart, the minority co-production Life with Herman H. Rott by Chintis Lundgren, and Arcadian Fever by Tea Stražičić, while Jelena Oroz’s Wolf Games will be screened in the International Showcase.
