Croatian films and filmmakers at the 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival

The competitive programmes of the Sarajevo Film Festival, held from 12th to 20th August, will feature five domestic titles, while other selection will include 10 more films (alongside two episodes of the television series Newspaper). In addition, the 10th Talents Sarajevo will include seven young filmmakers from Croatia.

 Competition Programme – Documentary Film  

Wall of Death, and All That | Mladen Kovačević
Brankica relentlessly roams the “wall of death” on her motorbike, defying gravity since early childhood. Will she finally finish her ride?

Islands of Forgotten Cinemas | Ivan Ramljak
A poetic documentary about the loss of film culture in small villages on Croatian islands during the second half of the 20th century, told through intimate reminiscences of six protagonists.

A Two Way Mirror | Katarina Zrinka Matijević
A poetic documentary that illustrates different states of mind, inner struggles and revelations through the beautiful but bitterly cold mountainous landscapes of Lika.

Four Passports | Mihajlo Jevtić
An intimate journey through the protagonist’s microcosm of family and friends, combining present day images, family Super 8 archives, and animated dreams and memories.

The Beast | Miroslav Sikavica
A rashly accepted job at a construction site in a coastal resort becomes a pain in the neck of a backhoe loader operator from the hinterland who, in order to retain paternal authority and get the legal, but dirty demolition work done, needs to remove an unwanted witness.

A postmodern theater adaptation of a classic Greek tragedy takes place in the central theater of Athens.
