The Servant, a medium-length experimental feature film, is a visual opera in which music, movement and image merge into a visual libretto. The film explores the universal themes of love, power, loneliness, death, sadness and anger. The contemporary reinterpretation of the opera is followed by a musical version of the original work performed by Livio Morosino and music by Maestro Smareglia from the late 19th century. The main inspiration and dramaturgical guideline of the work is the libretto of The Vassal of Siget, signed by Francesco Pozze and Luigi Illica, the latter known as the librettist of Giacomo Puccini.
