On the first Saturday of every month, on the main squares of Croatian cities, hundreds of men kneel and pray together. In their prayers, they advocate for re-traditionalization, patriarchy, and the restriction of women's freedoms. The participants call themselves "The Knights of the Immaculate Heart of Mary." Although they pray in a public space, they treat it as if it were private. They fence off the squares with sacred markers and block the passage of citizens. Within the enclosed area, women are not permitted to enter, even if they themselves wish to pray.
