At the beginning of the 20th century, men from Croatian islands frequently migrated to South America, escaping hunger and looking for a better life. Partenza was inspired by the tragedy of the present-day African and Asian immigrants at sea, comparing their story with the one of Croatian immigrants from a century ago.
