Alone deals with the growing number of single people in Žumberak. This beautiful area near the Croatian capital of Zagreb has become desolate because of depopulation. Why do so many people decide to stay alone, without family? Openhearted protagonists lead us into the hidden world of moral doubts, fears, tragic and wrong life decisions, loneliness and incurable sadness.

Miroslav Mikuljan (1943-2011) graduated in film and TV directing from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. As a member of the Cinema Club Zagreb, he directed numerous amateur films that won several awards at national and international film festivals. He has directed numerous documentary films and series, children's TV films, TV dramas and short films, as well as two feature films, I Want to Live (1982) and The Red and the Black (1985).
