Ivona Juka's Co-production The Other Supported by Eurimages

Director Ivona Juka's feature live-action debut The Other has won financial support from Eurimages, the Council of Europe fund intended for stimulating co-productions, distribution and promotion of European film production. At the 123rd Eurimages Board of Directors' meeting held 7-10 June in Helsinki, 19 European co-productions were selected for co-funding and, alongside Juka's film, films by Bille August, Silvio Soldini, Marco Tullio Giordana and Radu Jude.

The script for the film The Other was written by Ivona Juka. In it, several life stories of different couples intertwine in the preparations for a soap opera anniversary celebration. A bit of slice-of-life dramaturgy, a bit of soap opera matrix, the turns experienced by script characters will show the irony and bitterness of everyday life behind the idealised soap opera landscapes.

The script for The Other has already received three best script awards: NIPKOW award of the prestigious German European film professionals programme, Croatian Film Directors' Guild award and Split City Office for Culture and their film critics' award.

The shooting will begin in the autumn of 2011. The producer is Anita Juka, and co-producers Biljana Niković and Danijel Hočevar. The film is produced by 4film from Zagreb and co-produced by Vertigo (Slovenia) and Sloane Film Production (Serbia).

The film is co-funded by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Croatian Radio and Television, Slovenian Film Centre and Serbian Ministry of Culture.
