Chris Marcich elected as EFAD President

On 12 December, the Board members of the European Film Agency Directors association elected Chris Marcich, CEO of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, as EFAD President of the association with a three year mandate.

"It is an honor, privilege and responsibility to be appointed President of EFAD. I thank my colleagues for the confidence they have entrusted me with and will do my utmost to make sure that together we help meet the unprecedented challenges independent European creators are facing. We must never lose sight of the fact that Europe derives its strength from its diversity", declared the CEO of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Chris Marcich.

Chris Marcich was appointed CEO of the Croatian Audiovisual Center on 1 May 2019. As the head of the Centre he represents and acts on behalf of the Centre, organizes and runs the Centre’s activities together with its team of professionals. The primary mission of the Centre in the widest sense is to support and promote the Croatian film and audiovisual sector. The Centre also runs the cash rebate program known as “Filming in Croatia”, is home to the MEDIA Desk in Croatia and represents Croatia in Eurimages. He has been President of the Board of AGICOA since 2013 and the President for International at the Motion Picture Association’s European office in Brussels from 1995 to 2016.

EFAD (European Film Agency Directors association) is the voice of national European Film Agencies, bringing together national film and audiovisual agencies from European countries. EFAD membership covers the European Union countries as well as Iceland, Norway, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The 37 EFAD members are government or government associated public bodies, in charge of national funding for the audiovisual sector and with the responsibility to advise or regulate on all aspects of audiovisual policies. In total, the EFAD members and their governments fund around three billion Euros every year through subsidies and tax reliefs with a view to fostering the creation, production, promotion, distribution, and exhibition of European audiovisual and cinematographic works.
