41st Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2017
Selected for the official competition at the 41st Annecy International Animation Film Festival, one of the most renowned and respected animation festivals, are four Croatian co-productions: Manivald by Chintis Lundgren, Airport by Michaela Müller, Nighthawk by Špela Čadež and Hedgehog’s Home by Eva Cvijanović. The festival has taken place from June 12th to 17th in Annecy, France.
Manivald, by writer and director Chintis Lundgren, is an animated film and a Canadian, Croatian and Estonian co-production. The Croatian co-producer is Draško Ivezić (Adriatic Animation) who, along with Chintis Lundgren, co-wrote the film. This is the same team that collaborated on the multiple award-winning animated film Life with Herman H. Rott. Airport, directed by Michaela Müller, is a Swiss-Croatian co-production, and the Croatian co-producer is Ankica Jurić Tilić (Kinorama). Müller also directed Miramare which was screened in competition at Annecy in 2010.
Along with these films, the official selection of the 41st Annecy International Animation Film Festival also featured the multiple award-winning film Nighthawk by renowned Slovenian director Špela Čadež. The film is a Slovenian-Croatian co-production, and is inspired by true events. It is a film about a drunk badger who is found in the dead of night by police. The Croatian co-producer is Vanja Andrijević (Bonobostudio) who, along with Nighthawk, is also the Croatian co-producer of Hedgehog’s Home by Eva Cvijanović. The animated film was awarded special mention by the children’s jury at the recently held Berlinale in the Generation Kplus category.
All of the above films are supported by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.
