On a snowy January morning in 1985, Herzegovina was hit by an unusually harsh winter. It was winter break and sisters Šima and Draženka were planning to help their mother clean the school where she worked. When the bus failed to arrive due to heavy snowfall, the sisters decided to go on foot. On their way, they fell into a deep, icy pit where they remained trapped for eight days.
